About B The Light Counseling

Combining Science and Compassion for Effective Treatment

B The Light Counseling is a private, solo counseling practice dedicated to providing personalized, compassionate support for individuals, couples, and families impacted by substance use and addiction. When you work with B The Light Counseling, you work directly with one experienced counselor who is fully invested in your journey.

I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor with over eight years of experience providing substance use counseling, addiction treatment, and drug and alcohol recovery support. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are seeking meaningful change, healing, and long-term recovery.

I provide addiction counseling in a safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive space, using evidence-based addiction treatment, trauma-informed care, and practical tools to help clients build coping skills and move forward with confidence.

I understand that reaching out for substance use counseling or addiction recovery support is a big step, and I meet each client with compassion, respect, and honesty.

My work often focuses on relapse prevention, healthy boundaries, stress management, and communication skills—tools that make recovery feel more manageable and sustainable.

I also specialize in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Gottman Addiction and Recovery Family Therapy, helping couples and families rebuild trust, strengthen relationships, and heal from the impact of substance use.

Wherever you are in your journey, you don’t have to walk it alone. My goal is to help you reconnect with hope, resilience, and the light that leads to lasting recovery.

Licensed Addiction Counselor, Advocate for Healing, and Partner in Your Recovery

I know how hard it can be to ask for help — especially when life feels messy, overwhelming, or out of control.

Before becoming a licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, I spent 22 years working in the judicial system in civil and family court. During that time, I saw how substance use, stress, and untreated pain can slowly impact relationships, families, and a person’s sense of self.

But it wasn’t until my own recovery journey that I truly understood how difficult change can feel — and how possible it is.

I’ve been in recovery for over eight years. I know what it’s like to feel stuck, ashamed, scared, or unsure where to turn next. Recovery didn’t make my life perfect, but it gave me tools, support, and clarity I didn’t have before. It also helped me discover a real passion for walking alongside others who are trying to find their way forward.

Outside of my work, I’m a mom to three adult children and married to my second husband of five years. I’m also a proud grandma to one granddaughter, with another on the way. Our home includes a very energetic five-year-old Border Collie who keeps things lively. I’ve also spent eight years as a foster parent, and my youngest son joined our family through foster care and adoption. Those experiences taught me a lot about patience, trust, and how important it is to feel safe and supported.

Today, I bring all of this — my professional experience, my recovery, and my real-life lessons — into my work with clients. I don’t believe in judgment or “one-size-fits-all” recovery. I believe in meeting people where they are, helping them build skills they can actually use, and supporting them as they work toward stability, healthier relationships, and a life that feels manageable again.

If you’re feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or just tired of doing this alone, you don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. We can take it one step at a time — together.
